Coffee lovers its time for iced coffee ! Yep summer is here and what’s more refreshing than a chilled caffeine drink ? Here is my super simple recipe that you can make at home and no need to go out and buy expensive iced coffee anymore. Basically it’s cold coffee and all you need is coffee, milk and sugar .. then you can get fancy and add coffee flavourings and whipped cream and choc chips and all that arty pinterest type versions.
I am using my beloved Delonghi coffee machine and Lugat delicious coffee beans. I Am making a large bottle that I refrigerate over night and thus I have enough supply for few cups !
Before we get started I wanted you to know that there are TWO types of cold coffee drinks; Cold brew and Iced Coffee.
Cold brew; Hot water added to grounded coffee that is left to cool for 24 hours in the fridge and strained. Pour the cold coffee into filter/ coffee paper into a glass filled with ice cubes. Add some cold milk and syrup.
Iced Coffee; In a cup filled with ice cubes pour strong cold coffee,
Note: Since sugar doesn’t dissolve in cold water make sure you add it before cooling. Also make sure the coffee is slightly stronger or add more shots because the ice will dilute the flavour of the coffee.
Ingredients
Two shots of espresso
half cup of cold milk
2 teaspoons of maple syrup
Handfull of ice cubes
Method
Step 1- 2 shots of coffee / espresso poured into a glass of cold milk.
Step 2- add Maple syrup in to the coffee mixture stir well and refrigerate.
Step 3- In a large cup or mason jar add ice cubes and pour the cold coffee drink.
Bon appétite
You can add coffee flavoured syrups, whipped cream, heavy cream, even ice cream !
